Beirut-based musician and composer Serge Volant’s new record is an excellent collection of synth-based expression on daily life in Lebanon. Recorded mainly with modular synths and field recordings, the album “Everyday Is All There Is” can best be described as a sonic documentary of the artist’s daily life, capturing the small moments and chance encounters that come about. Experimental, minimalist and ambient, Volant says a lot with this soundscape he has created, telling the stories he wants us to hear and about his observations of living in Lebanon. He isn’t looking to wallow in darkness of living under constant and on-going bombardment but the smalls joys in life, the little things that matter most.
