It’s common that long-time fans of a particular album or band get envious of folks discovering their favorites for the first time. I’ve been there before with music and I understand that feeling well. This past weekend however, I was one of those people getting to experience Nation of Language for the first time and by the end of the set, I was starstruck and completely speechless. I’ll admit, I learned of the band through Holland Project’s show annoucement and spent weeks listening to their records prior to the show. I had a feeling this was going to be special and it went way above and beyond my expectations. The only other time this has happened to me was when Tame Impala opened for The Flaming Lips, Halloween 2013 in San Francisco. I was left completely euphoric and to feel that again when Nation of Language hit their last note was amazing and unforgettable.
LA’s Peel Dream Magazine set the tone as they opened for Nation of Language. It was an amazing set, laid bad and excellent indie rock. I did wish it went on a little longer, I’m not one to shout out during shows but I was tempted to yell, “one more song!” Come back to Reno soon
