I was browsing Bandcamp, searching the post-punk and shoegaze sections when I stumbled upon this deep, heavy sounding masterpiece from Singapore’s Shye. I Always Knew is the track that defaulted when I started listening and what an amazing song it is. Shye has been releasing music since 2020, her earlier work can be described more on the dream-pop side of things. Over the last few years, she has released numerous singles which would eventually make up the record, “The Doves Come Home” which came out May of this year. The album is definitely worth a listen as it is very good, but Shye’s earlier work is just as compelling. Her dream pop beginnings and influences do find their way on the latest record and everything she has been creating over the last six years blends into this beautiful album.
