Spirits Rebellious

Hailing from the vibrant Cairo indie scene, Ali Refai released his debut EP titled “
Gadaliyya – جدلية” last September and it is an incredible work of music. There is so much going on in the four tracks that comprise the EP, which is a reflection of the musical influences that shaped the musician himself. There are elements of jazz combined with prog rock and shaabi (a genre of Egyptian music) which blends together to create this wonderful piece of experimental music. There are no lyrics, just four masterfully arranged compositions which take your mind in all sorts of directions. The track Ajam is featured today because of how much music variation Refai put into the song. It’s absolutely phenomenal and I can not stop listening.
