Minneapolis’ Real Numbers have been around for some time with their first release, a s/t LP, coming May 2010. Even when that was my peak time blogging music in San Francisco, I must have missed them because their latest single, Never Never Again, is the first I’m hearing about them. The new record “Was It Always This Way” is due out August 14th on Slumberland Records. The new single is full of guitar led indiepop and pleasant, dreamy vocals. The album follows up their 2021 EP “Brighter Then” which I highly recommend listening to. Slumberland draws comparisons to acts like Field Mice, which I agree, but going through their discography, I was picking up similar sounds and melodies from another SLR alum in The Mantles.
