During Honey Plant’s show at Cypress this past March, bassist and lead vocalist Robin mentioned to me that he had recorded a song for a Reno based indie film titled A15. The film is from University of Nevada, Reno’s Waylon Parr, who shot and produced the sci-fi thriller with an iPhone 15 Pro Max and a budget of about $1500. The track from Honey Plant is a departure from their signature upbeat funk and groove jams to a more somber, lo-fi composition. Under The Moon Light is very fitting for an indie film. Having not been able to see A15 yet, I’m sitting here listening to the track imagining the scenes the score could be being playing over. It’s a track that draws feeling and wonder, another fantastic song by Honey Plant
