Seattle’s TV Star came together through their shared love of 90’s shoegaze and altrock. For someone who grew up during that amazing era of music, with Seattle being the epicenter, I can hear the influences that permeate through their debut LP, Music For Heads. The band formed in 2020 and consists of Ashlyn Nagel on vocals and keys, guitarists Bryan Coats & Che Hise-Gattone, Mark Palm on bass, and drummer Tucker Devault. TV Star are named after a track of the same name featuring on the 1996 alternative classic Electriclarryland by the Butthole Surfers. However, TV Star aren’t looking to emulate or mimic what’s inspired them. The band have created and crafted a fantastic record from the opening note to the last. It’s a wonderful listen; nostalgic but modern and checks off all the boxes for me.
TV Star will be in Reno this Saturday at Chrome Coffee with locals Silly Little. Info on the show can be found here
