Every now and then my brain remembers something that it should but yesterday was not one of those days. I was browsing through the shoegaze section of Bandcamp when I came across a band called Swapmeet. About a decade ago I knew of a band called Swampmeat Family Band from a label I followed religiously in PNKSLM out of Sweden. I clicked on the link curious to see what Swampmeat were up to and noticed they sounded…different and had a new female singer? I looked at the name again and noticed the double e and saw the band were out of Australia and not the UK.
I had mixed up the band names but in this case, my embarrassment turned into a joyful moment as I had discovered a new band that I enjoyed very much. Swapmeet are prepping their debut LP titled Mount Zero and have released two singles so far, with the featured track Sand the most recent. In 2024 they released a beautiful EP titled Oxalis which is absolutely fantastic and can be found here. I instantly fell in love with this band and am very much looking forward to the release of Mount Zero.
