Long Beach’s Tijuana Panthers recently released two new singles for what I’m hoping is a new album from the garage/surf rock trio. Tijuana Panthers have consistently made good songs and records since I first discovered them in 2010, with their debut release titled Max Baker. Since 2013, they have put out solid albums with Innovative Leisure (their most recent titled Halfway to Eighty dropped in 2022).
Crash It is what I’ve come to expect and love from the band. A catchy, surf rock tune that I can’t get out of my head after hearing it. The band have elevated their sound and crafted a memorable track with excellent vocals and superb guitar and drumming.
Featured below is the new video for Crash It but do not hesitate to check out the video they made for their second new single, Boutique Bike Locks, found here. A Youtuber commented that this has elements of Beastie Boys, and now I can’t get that comparison out of my head. If this is the direction is looking to go towards, then I’m all for it.
