I’m very excited about Reno’s The Velvet Pouch. In 2025, the trio released an EP titled Pouch 2000 and the featured single Pebble Beach which can be found here. It was a difficult decision which track to feature as the EP and Pebble Beach are strikingly different from each other and both are superb. Pouch 2000 is dark, eerie, and beautiful whereas Pebble Beach is brighter with jazz guitar and drum rhythms infused into the track. I think this shows the wide range the band has and per their Spotify profile, they’ve dubbed it “Blunt-Fusion”.
The Velvet Pouch just had a show on the 6th at The Greenhouse and will next play there again on March 27th with Buckets and Mantis Men. They also have a show March 11th at the Pignic Pub alongside Sacramento’s The Pretty Boys.
