About

Spirits Rebellious is a blog based in Reno, Nevada with the goal of documenting and supporting the local art and music scene. The aim is to showcase tracks and art shows from Reno and surrounding area bands and artists. Music from bands outside of Reno will also feature, especially if they are coming through for a show. Local theater groups will also be featured and promoted as Reno has an amazing theater scene.

Spirits Rebellious is taken from Kahlil Gibran’s book of the same name, published in 1908. Gibran was a Lebanese writer, poet and philosopher (he did not take to this title though). He is most known for his book title The Prophet. Spirits Rebellious is known for challenging religious and political authority of 20th-century Lebanon. He called for personal freedom and spiritual freedom. The book was banned and publicly burned in Beirut and also caused his eventual exile from the county.

You can find me serving coffee at the Nevada Museum of Art’s First Thursday Events or snapping pictures at shows. The spirit of rebellion through creativity and art will live strongly on this site. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy. Drop me an email for any additions to the venue, theater or art gallery lists on the Links page.
